Arbor Engineering

Landscape Designers Graham Kimak and David Van De Water of Arbor Engineering, Inc. were pleased to provide the Landscape Master Plan for the Inspiration Home.  By increasing the number of native plant materials, they were able to minimize the need for irrigation.  The use of permeable pavers allowed for more rainwater to percolate into the soil, reducing the amount of runoff and erosion.  In addition, stone boulders salvaged during grading were used for retaining walls which eliminated the necessity of stone being quarried and shipped to the site.
 
 

BioTek

When building an extremely tight energy efficient home, Indoor Air Quality must be addressed.  That is why Milestone Custom Homes utilized the BioStar Program provided by BioTek Environmental.  The Indoor Air Quality of the Inspiration Home is controlled in the following ways:
  • A durable antimicrobial was applied to the framing during construction.  The Biostat 500 product (EPA Registered) inhibits any potential mold growth in the wall cavities.
  • Air Purification Hydroxyl Generators were installed on the HVAC units to purify the air by using Hydrogen Peroxide molecules (a proven and safe, effective antiseptic agent). 
  • Upon completion of the home, all contact surfaces will be wiped down with Biostat Pro, a durable, safe antimicrobial with Quaternary disinfectant (EPA Registered).
  • Quarterly air sampling will take place for one year to monitor the Indoor Air Quality of the Inspiration Home.
It all adds up to the safest, most effect method of delivering exceptional, on-going Indoor Air Quality.

Groundsmaster Landscaping

Planting selection and design has been optimized not only for impact, but also sustainability.  By selecting plant materials which are natively used in xeriscaping (water efficient landscape design), they were able to reduce the amount of water needed for sustaining a natural and healthy landscape.  Plant materials were selected for proper growth habits and minimal maintenance.  Ground-covers were also used to increase erosion control.

New species of Sod have been selected which require very little irrigation for success.  Drought-resistant turf grasses are important in the changing climate as they should eliminate the need for watering and fertilizers, and reduce mowing frequency.

A new state-of-the-art climatic weather controller will take the guesswork out of irrigation scheduling!  The Hunter ET System measures key climatic conditions and uses them to calculate your local Evapotranspiration (ET) factor.  By taking into the account the rate at which water is consumed by evaporation and plant life, the ET System will initiate a schedule to replenish only the water that is actually needed.  It also uses the new WiltGard™ technology which can intervene to trigger protective watering when extreme conditions threaten your plants.  The result is a dramatic savings in your water bill (an average of 30%), healthier root zones, and your participation in conserving our precious natural resources.


Moen

Now, with the launch of the Velocity™Rainshower Showerhead, Moen Incorporated has created a way to channel water pressure into a total-body, rain-soaking experience.  This new eight-inch showerhead features Moen Immersion™ techonology-- a self-pressurizing system that increases the force and flow of water delivery.  Beyond providing pressurized water flow, Velocity is adjustable, allowing consumers to personalize their shower experience.  The showerhead has a convenient lever to adjust the water delivery from the spray nozzles-- concentrating it to 30 nozzles or expanding the flow out of as many as 100.
