Built by Signature Pools and Patios, an Upstate company serving Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson for more than 30 years, the resort-style pool is designed to accommodate a wide variety of water lovers – from a swim lane for serious swimmers to a nine-inch deep area with bubbling wands for children.

Boral Building Products

To stand before the 2012 Inspiration Home is to glimpse the enduring grandeur, and timeless comfort of an impressive façade. It also offers a testament to the simple but elegant choice to wrap the 11,220 square foot residence in brick.

When Milestone Custom Homes chose a brick exterior for the Inspiration Home, they turned to Boral Building Products, a leading distributor of brick and other high quality cladding products, and made the selection from Boral’s Greenville showroom.

“This is our first opportunity to be a part of the Inspiration Home series,” said Boral sales representative Scott Hannon. “There are so many reasons why this brick selection was the perfect choice for the home’s exterior and we’re excited to be a part of the project.”

Matching beauty and durability, brick is also energy efficient–surrounding the home with three inches of ceramic material nearly as hard and dense as stone. Brick absorbs heat in the summer and cold in the winter and provide added insulation from outdoor temperature changes.

Brick also adds lasting quality to any home. It doesn’t fade or rot and is able to withstand even the harshest weather. Homes wrapped in brick also have greater resale value – an estimated six percent higher than similar homes with exteriors made from other materials.

It took nearly 60,000 bricks weighing an estimated 125 tons to cover the Inspiration Home. The bricks were produced in a wood-fired facility using a renewable fuel source. This process also provides the added benefit of enhancing the color of each brick to resemble those made during the Colonial and early American periods.

Burchette & Burchette Hardwood Flooring

With so much to see at the Inspiration Home, it is worth reminding visitors to look down from time to time. The hardwood floors throughout the 11,220 square foot residence are truly a work of art.
Handcrafted by Burchette & Burchette Hardwood Flooring of Elkin, N.C., the lumber for the floors was imported from France and treated like fine furniture. Each six-inch plank is cut from the heart of Antique French Oak to yield a unique grain that shows lovely cathedral patterns. Furthermore, each plank is scraped by hand to create a texture resembling older floors – both soft and elegant. Colored by a stain made from walnut hulls, each plank also was hand buffed with a European oil finish that will continue to patina beautifully over time.

“Our company takes great care to produce durable but uniquely artistic floors that will last generations,” said Josh Burchette, national sales and marketing manager for Burchette & Burchette. “What an opportunity it is for us to create floors for the 2012 Inspiration Home, which is itself the sum of a great deal of creative work.”

Burchette & Burchette is a third-generation, family-owned, and family-operated business. Since 1948, the company has specialized in designing and handcrafting custom wood flooring and other architectural elements. Using traditional methods and great personal attention to detail, each floor is truly unlike any other – and expression of art and a testament to experience craftsmanship.
Their products also are certified by the international Forest Stewardship Council as being harvested from forests that practice environmentally and economically responsible forestry.
